Dresden family to begin Appalachian Trail hike April 1
The David Kallin family of Dresden, including David's wife, Emily, their two young children and their dog, will begin their six-month hike of the Appalachian Trail in Georgia on Tuesday, April 1.
While David and Emily have hiked the entire trail before, this is the first time they are hiking the trail with two small children under the age of 10, Nathan (9) and Madeline (7), and the family dog, Orion.
David M. Kallin is an attorney with the Maine and New Hampshire law firm, Drummond Woodsum. His law practice focuses on land conservation, land use and natural resource law. In a press release from the law firm, Kallin said, “The Appalachian Trail has been a central path in both my family and professional life since my wife and I hiked from end to end in 2002. I look forward to the opportunity afforded by the next six months for the Appalachian Trail to become the central path that will guide our family growth as we forge even stronger relationships in the mountains.”
Drummond Woodsum is supporting the Kallin family in this adventure. “We see Dave as one of our future leaders. We are confident that many of the trail clubs and conservancies we represent will benefit from Dave’s time connecting to the land,” said William L. Plouffe, Drummond Woodsum’s Environmental & Land Use Group Chairman.
Kallin will be blogging about his adventure periodically. To follow the Kallin Family Adventure, visit: kallinfamily.com.
