Edgecomb planning board approves two applications
The Edgecomb Planning Board approved permits for a California man to construct a back lot driveway and a Damariscotta oyster farm to build a pier at its River Road location.
The board voted 4-0 Nov. 17 to approve a 50-foot wide and 350-foot long back lot driveway for Robert Salter’s property at 194 Shore Road. Wiscasset consultant Karl Olson submitted the application on Salter’s behalf. Olson explained Salter wanted the driveway to sell a house lot on the property’s front lot.
The board also voted 4-0 approving a pier for Norumbega Oyster, Inc. owned by Kellie J. and Eric Peters of Nobleboro. According to Chairman Jack French, the couple own several oyster harvesting locations in the region. The board approved building a 25-foot by 18-foot gear storage platform with a 30-foot by 6-foot pier, 36-foot by 4-foot runway and a 10-foot by 20-foot float parallel to the Damariscotta River shore. The structure would provide shore access for the aquaculture operation at 617 River Road.
In other business, board secretary Jackie Lowell said she forwarded the town’s updated shoreland ordinance to the state for review. If it is approved, board members expect residents to vote on the changes during the May town meeting.
The board also wants to review town ordinances regarding mobile home parks and wireless communication. The board will review them at the next meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8 in the municipal building.
