Falls and balance will be the topic of the next Diabetes Support Group on Tuesday, Oct. 8. The discussion begins at 1:30 p.m. at the Wellness and Rehab Center in the Webster Van Winkle Building on LincolnHealth’s Miles campus in Damariscotta. The program will also be available via Zoom.

The presenter will be Alexandra DeRosia, who has her doctorate in physical therapy and a bachelor of science in exercise science. DeRosia has a special interest in working with balance and neurological patients. The presentation will explain the various systems that impact and make up our balance, describe the multiple systems of balance, discuss diabetes specific balance concerns and show what patients can do today to improve balance and decrease the risk of falling. 

The Diabetes Support Group meetings are free and open to adults living with diabetes and their families. Pre-registration is recommended due to limited seating and the need to provide a Zoom link prior to the meeting to those who cannot be there in person.
