Festive fall

Wed, 10/11/2023 - 8:45am

Hope everyone who likes this time of year, for its flavors, crisp air, scarecrow sightings, or anything else fall, finds something for themselves and/or family members this ScarecrowFest. The Wiscasset tradition has moved around and now back to the municipal building, an equally good spot for making the scarecrows this Saturday and leaving them there for Route One travelers’ enjoyment, if the makers choose.

Find fun a day earlier, on Friday, Oct. 13 at Wiscasset Elementary School, where Partners in Education has its fall festival. With a photo booth and the announcement’s reference to costumes, the event could double as a dress rehearsal for what you and/or yours might have lined up to wear Oct. 31 at Nightmare on Federal Street, or wherever else this Halloween.

The ScarecrowFest and PIE festival announcements are at wiscassetnewspaper.com, where you can also read about Rescue Charlie’s Friends’ Halloween Carnival, on deck for Oct. 27 and 28. Fun and good causes go together like candy corn and ... more candy corn.

This week’s attempted, positive parting thought: Any game now, the New England Patriots will score again. Do not turn your back on them, just maybe switch from TV to radio for the games. You can multi-task and at least you will not have to watch until they start getting points again.
