Fire destroys Boothbay home
A fast-moving fire destroyed a double-wide trailer on 86 Ryder Trail in Boothbay on Saturday evening, March 7.
According to Boothbay Fire Chief Dick Spofford, firefighter David Pratt arrived eight minutes after the fire was called in around 5:30 p.m. and the fire was coming out of the roof.
Spofford said the owners, Claudia Kinsey and Paul Bourcet, had noticed fire on the inside wall and got out of the house with their two dogs.
“They got out quickly as (Claudia Kinsey) ran out without her shoes on,” said Spofford.
Firefighters managed to save a garage beside the house, said Spofford. He said the Red Cross helped secure a hotel room for the couple March 7.
The state Fire Marshal's Office will be investigating the cause of the fire, said Spofford.
As of Tuesday morning, March 10, Spofford had not been notified by the Fire Marshal’s Office about the cause of the fire.
