Food Trucks A-Go announces new hours

Tue, 12/17/2019 - 8:00am

Food Trucks A-Go, the Midcoast’s newest dining experience, is excited to announce that the food court located on Route 27 in Boothbay will be open daily from Thursday, Dec. 19 through Tuesday, Dec. 31, from 3 to 10 p.m. with the exception of Christmas Eve.

Christmas trees ($25 $30, plus a free bag of kettle corn) and wreaths ($12 and up) are available daily beginning at 11 a.m.

Trees and wreaths will also be available until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18, for Men’s Night.

Owner Lester Spear says he’s been thrilled to see how much patrons are enjoying Food Trucks A-Go.

“We’re getting families here, hanging out by the bonfire, taking photos, and ordering something different from each of the trucks --- pizza for the kids, one order of fish tacos, one lobster roll, that kind of thing. Everyone’s having a great time,” said Spear.

But just one month ago, not everyone was sure that the event would pull together in time.

“The wind storm in October delayed construction by at least a week,” said Spear. “CMP couldn’t disconnect the power to the old Pinkham’s building until they finished restoring power throughout the state. So that was one major setback.”

“People would stop by all the time to see what was going on,” said Spear’s father and business partner Rod Spear. “I’d tell them what we were doing and they’d say no way, you’ll never get that done in two weeks.”

In the end, a small but dedicated team made it happen.

I want to thank everyone who helped us out,” said Lester Spear. “Wilson’s Complete Home Care, Jerry Scarborough, Clear Stream Construction, Stover Electric, Hawke Motors for generously extending the lift rental when the trees took way longer than I’d planned, EM Wood, Alan Baldwin, Melissa Whitt, and Knickerbocker Group.

"You know, I travel all over the country in the resort industry for my work, and I've seen so many towns doing what the Boothbay region does,” Spear said.

The ones that are the most successful are the ones that can put aside their differences and work together to give guests the best, most welcoming experience. I think the Botanical Gardens has started something great here with Gardens Aglow, and I'm so happy to see the rest of the community unite to make it even better."

Look for the food truck court to reopen for the summer season in spring of 2020.
