Sheepscot Harbour Village Resort General Manager Gayle Hunt got the Edgecomb planning board’s unanimous approval Thursday, March 5 to move a previously approved market area from one end of the Route 1 building to the other.

Hunt explained, SHVR would like to move the planned market to a section Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce had leased as a satellite information center for those traveling north on Route 1. The initial six-month lease has expired and the Chamber has decided not to renew.

The building’s footprint will not change, according to a description Hunt gave the board.

In an interview with the Boothbay Register, Hunt said SHVR expects the market will open with the start of the summer season. It will serve breakfast food, coffee and muffins and pizza and sandwiches for lunch and dinner. “We are hoping it will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.”

Other space in the building will now be used for offices and is the headquarters of Compass Rose Events.
