French travel-themed auction gala updates
Hunger is on the rise, and 1 in 5 children go hungry every day in Maine. With new government funding cuts to food assistance the solution to hunger relief now lies in the hands of individuals and non-profit organizations doing the work to help those most at risk.
Veggies to Table, a non-profit farm that donates 100% of the produce they grow to food insecure community members is hosting their biggest fundraiser of the year—a French-themed, all-white summer gala on Aug. 10 at Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences at 60 Bigelow Dr., East Boothbay. Last year the sold-out event raised $187,695. This year the stakes are higher as hunger is on the rise. All funds raised will help them continue to provide dignity and choice to our many neighbors in need of healthy food and the joy of flowers.
Veggies to Table has been hard at work curating a unique selection of French and travel themed auction items. There will be an open bar and a plethora of French food including sweet and savory crepes, oysters, Alain’s famous macarons, quiches, cakes and pastries and other delicacies.
The event includes: A live auction, silent auction - free and open to everyone worldwide; Golden Tickets- giving everyone a chance to win a live auction prize such as trips to Paris, Italy, and Mexico without being present of having to bid!
There will be something for everyone—from trips to Paris, Provence, Italy, Florida, and Mexico, to a private dinner on the farm with Veggies to Table’s founders Erica Berman and Alain Ollier, a private chef dinner and wine pairing, champagne magnums, a le Creuset, gift cards to Bred in the Bone, tickets to the Boston Ballet; Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan and Sheryl Crow, front row Yo-Yo Ma tickets and more!
Can’t make the live event? The silent auction is online and free to enter for anyone anywhere. It will offer trips to Paris and Maine, think of stays at Seguin Tree Dwellings, Otyokwa, and the Topside Inn, macaron classes with Alain, cocktail making and experiences such as mushroom foraging, champagne, saunas, restaurants, and handmade jewelry—something to please everyone.
