FTD free video screening at Harbor Theater
Midcoast-based anti-trafficking organization Friends of Thai Daughters is celebrating its 20-year anniversary and is inviting friends old and new to a free video screening Saturday, June 14 at the Harbor Theater, 185 Townsend Ave. in Boothbay Harbor to mark the occasion.
The short film being shown from 5 to 6 p.m. is a fascinating introduction to this successful nonprofit’s history of combating human trafficking amongst the vulnerable hill tribe girls of northern Thailand. Eight Thai Daughters will attend the screening, having flown in all the way from Thailand, and will share their stories and experiences. After a presentation, a selection of homemade, Thai-inspired snacks will be provided. Everyone is welcome.
The presentation is a prelude to the summer’s main event: Friends of Thai Daughters’ annual Sunflower Celebration taking place on Thursday, June 26 in East Boothbay. The celebration consistently draws friends and supporters from across the country and beyond. It features signature cocktails, delicious food provided by East Boothbay General Store, a raw bar, and a spirited live auction of exotic travel prizes, including an amazing Thai trip in the footsteps of hit series "The White Lotus." A special treat this year will be a performance of traditional Thai dances by the visiting daughters.
Early bird tickets for the event are on sale now at $125/each. To secure your ticket, visit the Sunflower Celebration page on Friends of Thai Daughters’ website, https://friendsofthaidaughters.org, and all the latest event information!
