Fun for all at the “Good Roots” art party
What happens when two beloved organizations join forces for a day? The “Good Roots” art party! All are invited to The Good Supply in Pemaquid for an afternoon in partnership with Hearty Roots, celebrating creativity, kids, and the joy of being in community with friends new and old on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 4 to 8 p.m.
The Good Supply is a beating heart of collaboration: what began in 2012 with the work of just 16 artists has grown to over 100 in the big, beautiful barn there. The large majority are Maine-based; artists and small businesses from out of state are teachers in their communities or artists working with recycled and renewable materials. Owner Catherine Walton has been a great supporter of Hearty Roots over the years and generously offered to host this wonderful event.
Hearty Roots is a mental health organization dedicated to using the powerful gifts of time spent outdoors to mindfully fuse social-emotional wellness with nature connection. By creating programs that allow for regular touchpoints with trusted, caring adults, Hearty Roots provides year-round opportunities for Midcoast youth to develop resources that support their sense of self, resilience and capability. Partnering with seven local schools, Adventure Mentors lead in-school and afterschool programs, and two therapists connect with kids in restorative outdoor spaces.
The “Good Roots” event will feature activities for kids led by Hearty Roots staff, a bounce house, music, good food, s’mores around the fire and a chance to support Hearty Roots through purchases made at the Good Supply, which is donating a significant portion of the evening’s proceeds to Hearty Roots. It promises to be a fun, festive and family-friendly night. There will even be a special presentation at 5:30 by a surprise guest!
The Good Supply is located at 2106 Bristol Road, Pemaquid. For more information, go to either www.thegoodsupply.org or www.heartyroots.org. Rain date is Sunday, Sept. 28 from noon to 4 p.m.
