Transportation History Meets Halloween Fun at Owls Head’s Night at the Museum

FREE Family Event

Owls Head Transportation Museum invites families to step back in time—and into a little Halloween magic—at Night at the Museum: Living History. This free family event combines costumes, creativity, and history for an evening of spooky fun for all ages.

Visitors will encounter historical reenactors bringing transportation legends to life, from daring race car drivers and fearless pilots to inventive pioneers like the Wright brothers and Bertha Benz. Through colorful storytelling and costumes, kids will discover how these figures helped shape the way we move through the world today.

The evening also features hands-on activities in the Science & Industry Center, where “Spooky Scientists” can explore squishy circuits, launch broomsticks with stomp rockets, and test their aim in pumpkin toss games. Guests can enjoy classic fun in the Red Room with rock painting, coloring pages, and leaf rubbings, or catch a screening of Casper the Friendly Ghost (1945) on the big screen.

Special highlights include:

  • STEM Activities designed for grades K–8 (but open to all!)

  • Interactive Games like Ghost Catchers and Scare the Ghost Away

  • Creative Crafts and candy giveaways

  • Vintage Transportation Stories brought to life by reenactors

Costumes are encouraged—whether guests want to arrive as their Halloween alter-ego, a favorite historical figure, or simply come as themselves. Sweet treats and seasonal surprises will round out this unforgettable evening of family-friendly Halloween fun.
