The Boothbay Railway Village Museum will celebrate its 61st season this Saturday, Aug. 23 with a summer gala under the stars. The event will honor the museum’s founder, George H. McEvoy, who we sadly lost earlier this summer.
Festivities begin at 6 p.m. with a train ride to the Antique Auto Museum, where guests will enjoy the start of an evening filled with artisanal cuisine and specialty cocktails prepared by Mine Oyster Catering, and spectacular music by award-winning Maine musician, Don Campbell.
Tickets available online at RailwayVillage.org
Following the welcome reception, guests will venture down to the Village Green to feast on a creative selection of food and drink stations, and dance under the stars to the Don Campbell Band. The event will also feature an irresistible selection of local silent auction items.
The event is a fundraiser to continue building the capital campaign, "Driving History Forward," missioned to preserve the history of automaking and safely archive museum collections. The project includes construction of a 6,000 square foot building which will include restrooms, an education center, an auto workshop, and state-of-the-art archival storage. All who attend and sponsor this event are becoming a part of making this vision a reality, allowing future generations to enjoy this great gift that was given to our community 61 years ago.
As our founder always said, "the museum belongs to the community." Together, we will do our best to carry his legacy forward.
