Funeral homes taking precautions during virus outbreak

Tue, 03/17/2020 - 4:00pm

At Hall Funeral Home and Cremation Services, the families we serve are always our top priority. During confusing and concerning times such as the current COVID-19 event, we want to share our plans with you. We want to assure you that we are all in this together.

First, we are closely monitoring and following all guidelines from the CDC, National Funeral Directors Association, as well as all local and state emergency services.

Social support is extremely important during a time of grieving, even when circumstances limit the ability to attend or support the family who has suffered a loss. We remind you that we have condolences through our website’s Book of Memories available as well as the option to call our offices for us to add your name to the register book. It is natural for all of us to want to share a hug with those families who are grieving but at this time, we encourage a warm smile to do for now. We have placed reminders throughout our funeral homes to ask that physical contact, such as shaking hands, be limited with family members and staff. We continue, as always, to provide hand sanitizer throughout our facilities which are available at all times. We have enacted extra cleaning both morning and night, in of all our public areas.

We have set in place new measures to help protect and accommodate the elderly, sick, members of the public and our staff. As of March 16, the CDC is recommending not holding gatherings of more than 50 people for the next eight weeks. We will make every effort to accommodate families in making arrangements and conducting services in any capacity needed to ensure their safety and comfort while honoring their loved one.

We will post any and all updates that we receive from the CDC and NFDA to keep families informed on our website and Facebook page. We will follow all new guidelines that are directed as the need arises.

Again, our family and staff are here to serve, protect and honor each family as we have been for over 60 years. If you have any questions or concerns please feel to call any of our locations in Boothbay, Thomaston or Waldoboro.
