Get involved in town government

The school is currently enrolling for fall 2014: first and second grades (3 to 6 years old) third and fourth (8 to 10 years old). For more information, visit www.juniperhillschool.org.
Hidden Valley Nature Center has great deals on reserving one of the overnight buildings this March. To see the pictures of yurt, huts and campsites available, go to www.hvnc.org. To make reservations, email info@hvnc.org. Pick a first-choice date and then a backup. You can also call 207-200-8840.
Well, the office should be back to normal this week, that is, if we are ever normal there. The town report should be on its way to being put together at Lincoln County News. Look for strange people in the next week or two who will be knocking on your door to leave you one. These folks are volunteers from our town, selectmen and Amy. The reports can to give you the information you will need to make good decisions on March 21 and 22.
If you don't take time to at least read the warrant articles and come share your views at town meeting, you have no right to complain about what's being done. Yup that's me, shooting from the hip and aiming to get more people involved in town government.
The Alna Volunteer Fire Department is looking for some good men and women to join its roster. As folks move, our roster gets smaller and we need the help of all to keep our homes and families safe in case of emergency. These people watch over us and help other stations when needed. You and I know the same workers get worn out from all they do with fighting fires, fundraising for different needs and being First Responders to boot. If you're young or older like me, have just moved here or need something to make you feel like you’re doing some good, please join them Wednesday night at the fire station.
Michael Trask has been fire chief for many years, and his heart is in it for our town. He learned about being a fireman at his father's knee. Michael’s dad Austin was our fire chief and road commissioner for many, many years, rest his soul. Where you saw Austin, there was Mike, whether it was paving roads, bush cutting, fighting fires or pulling someone out of the ditch. Mike was watching and learning.
Anyone looking to fill their time, here is a good way to do it: Join your neighbors and make new friends.
Working on the birthday list and haven't had any emails saying leave me out yet.
If they gave out trophies for having most dogs licensed, you folks would win hands down. Thank you from the ACO and office.
Spring is coming somewhere and then summer won't be far behind, so keep your chin up. May you have a week full of love and friendship.
