‘Gifts For Giving’ returns to Studio 53

November has returned. The last of the leaves will drop from the trees, even the oaks, while our thoughts turn to Thanksgiving and Hanukkah, Christmas, Yule or Kwanzaa. And following those thoughts come the gift lists filled with the names of loved ones for whom a treasure must be found.

Fear not! For I bring you tidings of great gift ideas sure to bring joy. And those gifts can be found at Studio 53 in Boothbay Harbor during the annual Gifts For Giving Holiday Sale!

Most of us are familiar with the fine art throughout the three floors of gallery space - by Heidi Seidelhuber, Terry Seaman, Bob McKay, John M. T. Seitzer, Tony van Hasselt, Don Josephson, John Silverio, Nancy Wilkoff, Lynne Seitzer and David Estey. During the four-day Gifts For Giving Holiday Show & Sale, there will be many items to choose from for those on your shopping list.

In addition to the paintings and sculpture by the Studio 53 artists, returning artisans and artists confirmed for this year’s event, to date, are: Elise Andersen - Andersen Studio - handcrafted artwork in ceramic, fiber, paintings and prints;  Jill Butke - fiber artist and weaver - uniquely woven cotton and wool wearables;  Ann Hedgcock - artist and potter: functional, whimsical and sculptural high-fired stoneware and porcelain; Don Josephson - artist;  Crystal Lewis of Blue Tin Farm, maker of luxurious, all natural goat milk soap and lotion; Dick Macdonald of MacDonald Stained Glass - stained glass mirrors, lighting, wall hangings, gifts and more; year round studio; Leslie Muir-Volpe -  fiber artist - miniature quilts, punch needle embroidery, unique fabric keepsakes; Sanny Norton - jewelry and wall hangings assembled from beach findings, hand-painted tables; Pam Riml -wet and dry felting, hooked rugs; Rhoda Weyr - Jeweler – fine jewelry, wall hangings, designs in gold, silver, copper, gems, shells and glass; Jess Wrobel - textiles and decor -handmade, vintage, primitive;  Ursula Smith - weaver of handwoven textiles for the home; June Campbell Rose of Above and Beyond Gallery & Boothbay Region Art Foundation - artist of many media types; author Lea Wait will have copies of several books for signing, including her latest, “Thread Herrings” A Mainely Needlepoint Mystery; and Betsy Wing - translator, visual artist specializing in fiction and monotype prints.

New to the show this year: artists Andre Benoit - assemblage and watercolorist; and John Butke - who works in oils and watercolors; and artisans Heather Atwood - H Monique Designs - handcrafted jewelry;  Becky Smith - wreaths-everlasting and fresh, Christmas decor; Linda Brewer - unique ornaments for the tree and home.

Don’t miss Gifts For Giving Thursday, Nov. 15 through Sunday, Nov. 18. There will be a free raffle for a Gifts for Giving Basket of Art. Sign up while you’re there. The drawing is at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Here's the schedule: Thursday, Nov. 15 - 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday, Nov. 16 - 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. with a Gala Reception from 5 to 8 p.m. with wine and refreshments open to all; Saturday, Nov. 17 (a.k.a. Early Bird Sale day) 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and put your name in for a 2 p.m. drawing for a $75 gift certificate; Sunday, Nov. 18 - 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
