Good ideas, acted on
Either thing we mention here might also make it into next edition's planned list of five good things that happened in or near Wiscasset in November. But these are so good, the extra recognition is well deserved.
The first is Help Yourself Shelf's continuing of its yearly effort to help ensure a food-filled Thanksgiving, just as that St. Philip's Church-based pantry also helps keep the food coming the rest of the year. How can we say enough about the dedication the volunteers show year in and year out? This Thanksgiving and every week, for all your efforts, thank you.
And how about what Lincoln Lodge of Masons No. 3 in Wiscasset pulled off last Sunday at Wiscasset Community Center, with help from other groups, as reported in this edition and at wiscassetnewspaper.com? Just wow. A free Thanksgiving meal for anyone's taking, on a day when the volunteers and attendees might not be otherwise engaged as anyone might be on the famous Thursday in November.
We have reported on similar meals over the years, also at WCC, on Thanksgiving Day; those were also wonderful to have happened. Doing it early as the Lodge and its fellow participants did for this one sounds like a good option.
Week's positive parting thought: You cut it pretty close Sunday on the win, New England Patriots! But well done on keeping the streak going. The games have been very enjoyable to watch or listen to.
