Help Yourself Shelf Thanksgiving Pantry Nov. 20

Mon, 11/12/2018 - 9:00am

St. Philip’s Help Yourself Shelf Food Pantry, 12 Hodge St., Wiscasset, will be having its Thanksgiving week pantry day on Tuesday, Nov. 20, beginning at 4 p.m. for a “grab and go’” event. Components of a Thanksgiving meal will be the major portion of the offerings that week. The Pantry will be back to its normally scheduled day the following week on Thursday, Nov. 29.

Special thanks to Wiscasset Rod and Gun Club, Wiscasset Elementary School, Chewonki’s Elementary School program, the town of Wiscasset, the First Congregational Church of Wiscasset, and all others who have generously donated items and funds to help support the Help Yourself Shelf’s objective of supporting food insecure people’s ability to have a happy and delicious Thanksgiving experience.

Those not wanting to celebrate at home by themselves have an opportunity to break bread together with others: The Morris Farm will host a Thanksgiving meal at their farm on Gardiner Rd. on Thursday, Nov. 15. There will be two sittings, the first at 5 p.m. and the second at 6:30. The Morris Farm will supply turkey, gravy and dressing, and attendees are to supply the rest. Registration is encouraged so they know how many people to expect at each sItting and what they are bringing (www.morrisfarm.org). If attendees aren’t able to supply anything for the groaning board, they are still encouraged to bring their dishes and silverware, and go anyway. All are welcome there.
