The Boothbay Register and Wiscasset Newspaper is happy to formally announce the winners of the How We Met Valentine’s Day contest.

Jason and Melissa Nein of Boothbay are the winners of a $75 gift certificate to Robinson’s Wharf and elected to use their prize the night of February 14 to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

The Neins received 177 votes throughout the contest, which ran from January 15 through February 13. Friends left supportive comments under the couple’s entry, including this one:

“As someone who can honestly claim to have been friends with Jason since he was about 6, I can say the two of them were made for each other, and he was very happy when he met Melissa, and they have made a wonderful couple of 24 years!”

Melissa Nein works at the Boothbay Region YMCA as a dance instructor and Jason Nein is a sergeant at the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

Dorinda Swett Webster and Phillip Webster gave the Neins a run for their money, coming in as runner-ups with 163 votes. We received several other touching stories you can read online, too.
