John B. Stevens Jr., 63, died March 17, 2013 at his home in Wiscasset.

He was born April 16, 1949 in Nashua, N.H., the son of John Bartlett Stevens Sr., and Jean Hamilton Stevens. He grew up in Nashua and attended local schools and was a graduate of Nashua High School class of 1967. He spent many happy summers at his family home on Ocean Point in East Boothbay.

After high school he attended college, then settled in Maine, his true paradise. He had always been drawn to the ocean and the coast, where he found peace. Throughout his life he has been a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, nephew and friend. He has been a lobsterman, carpenter, and a business owner but most of all a truly nontraditional entrepreneur. He was a creative individual and would always have another iron in the fire.

He lived in Boston and California with his family and raised two wonderful daughters. Time spent with his girls would be filled with many different adventures; and when the three were together, a new adventure was always right around the corner.

He loved to cook and his family appreciated his specialties; eggs Benedict, split pea soup and a leg of lamb. On Ocean Point he will be remembered with a chainsaw in his hand; if you heard a tree fall, Johnny was always there.

Survivors include two daughters, Megan Stevens of Portland and Chelsea Stevens of Durango, Colo.; sister Suzanne Hamblett and her husband Peter Hamblett of Portsmouth, N.H.; sister Holly Hornor and her husband Larry Hornor of Amherst, N.H., and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life will be held this summer at Ocean Point.
