Kennebec Estuary Land Trust annual meeting April 8
The public is invited to attend the Member Gathering and Annual Meeting of the Kennebec Estuary Land Trust (KELT) on April 8 at 5:30 p.m. at the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath. Join land trust staff, board of directors, and supporters as we commemorate the past and chart an exciting course for the future by unveiling KELT's strategic plan for the next three years.
This year marks KELT's 25th anniversary. Established in 1989 as a membership supported, nonprofit conservation organization, KELT works to protect land, water and wildlife of the lower Kennebec River watershed stretching from Merrymeeting Bay to the sea. With a focus area of Bowdoinham, Woolwich, Bath, West Bath, Phippsburg, Arrowsic, Georgetown, Dresden and Westport Island, KELT strives to be the “go-to” nonprofit for conservation of the natural, historic, scenic, cultural and agricultural resources of the Kennebec Estuary.
It is the perfect occasion to learn about KELT’s current projects and programs: restoration of the Nequasset fish ladder in Woolwich; opening Lilly Pond Community Forest to the public in South Bath; water quality testing in Georgetown; and providing enriching educational experiences for local students. It is also a celebration of the tenure of Jack Witham, KELT’s Board President, who has been a key figure in the past 25 years of conservation work.
The evening will begin with a social gathering for members starting at 5:30 p.m. in the museum's Long Reach Hall including hors d'oeuvres and a wine and beer tasting by Now You're Cooking and Mariner Beverages. The business meeting begins promptly at 6:15 p.m. with presentations from staff and Board members on programming and projects.
Please RSVP to this event by contacting Becky Kolak at bkolak@kennebecestuary.org or calling 207-442-8400. The Maine Maritime Museum is located at 243 Washington Street in Bath.
