Land Trust urges caution during hunting season
It's hunting season again and Boothbay Region Land Trust (BRLT) would like to remind hikers, hunters and dogs to wear blaze orange and to be alert while using public preserves.
With the exception of Saunders Preserve, BRLT properties are open to hunting. During this 2013 hunting season, which runs from October 1 to April 30, hunters are asked to use precautions and abide by all state regulations while on BRLT properties.
State law prohibits hunting on Sundays, as well as discharging a firearm within 100 yards of any dwelling or boat launch. The land trust also asks that no firearms are discharged within 300 feet of any trail.
For further information on hunting laws, please visit www.maine.gov/ifw/hunting_trapping or call the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife at 207-287-8000.
If you have any questions about Boothbay Region Land Trust properties, please contact us at 207-633-4818 or brlt@bbrlt.org.
We also welcome anyone to drop in the office at 137 Townsend Avenue, Monday through Friday, for further information or to purchase a BRLT blaze orange hat.
