Lincoln County Indivisible releases 2026 gubernatorial questionnaire
Lincoln County Indivisible (LCI), a grassroots organization working to preserve and support our democracy through direct, local, and peaceful action, today released its 2026 Gubernatorial Questionnaire. LCI undertook the effort to help voters evaluate the positions of the candidates in advance of this year's important gubernatorial election.
The questionnaire asked candidates to outline their top priorities and explain their positions on a range of topics including Maine's housing crisis, protecting the environment, healthcare access, the cost of electricity, income inequality, and protecting Mainers from Trump Administration policies, and excesses.
The questionnaire was sent to the candidates for governor that LCI determined share our core values. All five of the Democratic candidates who have qualified for the June primary ballot and one independent candidate were invited to participate. Responses were received from Shenna Bellows, Rick Bennett, Troy Jackson, Hannah Pingree, and Nirev Shah. Angus King III did not return the questionnaire.
The questionnaire and the thoughtful and thorough responses of the participating candidates is available on LCI's website, www.lcimaine.org.
