Lisbon tops WMHS 11-5
The Wolverines varsity baseball team lost its first game of the season to Lisbon High School, 11-5, Monday afternoon at Lisbon.
The Greyhounds out slugged Wiscasset by the same margin as the final score, 11 hits to five. Conlon Ranta had two hits for the Wolverines while Daren Wood, Tyler Bailey and Chayse Reed each singled.
Coach Gregg Wood reported the score was tied 3-3 headed into the bottom of the fourth inning when the Greyhounds lit up the scoreboard with seven runs off of starting pitcher Tyler Bailey. Lisbon had five hits and took advantage of two Wolverines errors that would have ended the inning.
“Conlon Ranta came in relief in the fourth inning and finished the game only allowing three hits and one run,” added Coach Wood.
Lisbon had two repeat hitters; Tyler Halls went two for two, and Nick Lerete went three for four with two singles and a double.
The Wolverines’ Mountain Valley Conference record is now 1-1.
Wiscasset Middle High School will be home Wednesday, April 27 hosting the Oak Hill Raiders and again Friday vs. St. Dom’s Academy. Both games start at 4 p.m.
