Photographer Lois Glaser holds an MS in art education. Though it was not her major, photography always held a fascination for her. After teaching, and a complete career change, 25 years passed before she resumed pursuing her photographic interests through classes, workshops and hours in the field. Lois was initially drawn to details and closeups in nature for her images. She has since expanded her personal portfolio to include scenics, landscapes, wildlife, and abstracts from nature. Though she currently focuses on creating Maine imagery, her work from the New York Adirondacks, the Rocky Mountains, the deserts and red rocks of the Southwest; and Africa can be seen on her online Etsy store, LAGlaserPhotography.

Lois has been exhibiting and selling her photographs since 2006. She was active in Image City Photography Gallery in Rochester, New York for eight years where her work was twice awarded best in show. Lois was selected as a Fellow of Camera Rochester, where she received numerous awards over the years, particularly for her macro photographs. She is also a Master Photographer in the Loveland Photographic Society and has exhibited multiple times in the juried Maine Photography Show. After living in Honeoye Falls, New York for over 40 years, Lois and her husband moved to Colorado for three years. In 2017 they came back east, choosing Boothbay Harbor as their permanent home.

The coast of Maine is a paradise for outdoor photographers. Lois continues her work on landscapes, and now scenes of the sea and microscapes that depict the Midcoast. In addition to bringing pleasure to viewers, Lois feels that if her images open a viewer’s eyes to God's handiwork, and inspire viewers to do their part in protecting and preserving our precious Earth, she has done her work well.

In addition to Southport Memorial Library, Lois's work is currently at Farm 23 and the Boothbay Region Art Foundation in Boothbay Harbor, as well as her online store.

Lois Glaser’s show can be viewed at the Southport Memorial Library, 1032 Hendricks Hill Road, during November and December. The library's winter hours are Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with additional evening hours on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. For more information, call the library at 633-2741.
