Maine Maritime Museum events announced
Mondays and Wednesdays, April 17-26, 6-8 p.m. Navigating Midcoast Maine, Members $76; non-members $95. Students will learn the basics about nautical charts, using navigational aids to cruise safely, and how to plan cruises using the information found on charts (e.g. buoys, lights, water depth).
Sunday, April 23, 10 a.m.-noon, Welcome Home Party for Mary E, Free admission. The oldest Bath-built wooden schooner still afloat is coming home! The schooner Mary E is scheduled to arrive at the museum on Sunday, April 23, so we're throwing a big party to welcome her home to the City of Ships! Join us at the museum to cheer her on as she makes her way up the Kennebec River, and be one of the first to go on board at the dock.
Mondays and Wednesdays, May 15-24, 6-8 p.m. About Boating Safely, Members $68; non-members $85. In this beginner boating class you will gain the basic knowledge to safely trailer, navigate, and operate a small vessel. This class will give you all the information needed to obtain a boat license or safety certification.
Wednesday and Thursday, May 17 and 18, 5-8 p.m. Boatshop Workshop: Shaker Box Making. Members $75; non-members $94. A great introductory woodworking course, each participant builds three nesting oval boxes made from cherry and cedar. No experience required.
Saturday, May 20, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Community Day. Free admission. Help us kick off the summer season with the raising of the flags over the Wyoming evocation and cannon fire at noon signaling the official start of our seasonal tours and activities. We’ll offer reduced-price cruises, and of course, lots of activities for kids.
