Maine State Aquarium has announced it is closed to the public after an unforeseen maintenance issue the morning of Aug. 29.
Maine Department of Marine Resources Communications Director Jeff Nichols said the West Boothbay Harbor aquarium was shuttered due to a “malfunction of the filtration system that filters the water for the display tanks.”
Nichols said the aquarium will update its website once the issue is resolved and staff are ready to welcome more visitors.
DMR’s website apologized for any inconvenience.
