Margaret P. Hughes (Hilda/Meghan), after several courageous battles with cancer, died Jan. 6, 2018 in Plymouth England.

She was predeceased by her great-grandson Caleb in 2009 and her husband Fred in 2015.

Many may remember the good times spent at the Clipper Inn in Boothbay Harbor with Hilda and Fred at the helm in the late ’70s and early ’80s. Hilda was always a source of entertainment – from teaching the Girl Scouts how to “march” to imparting her British witticisms on true “Mainahs.”

Hilda is survived by two children, Donna Hughes and her partner James Brown of Troy, Missouri and Timothy Hughes and wife Karyn of Goshen New York; four grandchildren, Kristi Schlag, Joshua Bradeen, Catherine Hughes and Brendan Hughes; and one great-grandchild, Zoe Momphard.

Services will be provided by JD Andrews Funeral home in Kingsbridge, England.
