Wiscasset Holiday Marketfest kicked off Dec. 6 with festivities on the Main Street Pier. Bundled up against the cold, families, carolers, and even the man in the red suit himself kept warm with hot cocoa and Christmas cookies before the fireworks show Big Al’s Fireworks put on.

The kickoff began a weekend of activities, including events for families and children: a horse-drawn wagon, a Christmas shopping experience for young children at Wiscasset Public Library, an open house at the Nickels-Sortwell House decked out in its holiday finery, pop-up shops for crafts, holiday greenery and more.
