Messy weather eyed for weekend
Snow levels that may have receded in recent mild temperatures may build back up this weekend. Meteorologist Eric Schwibs of the National Weather Service’s Gray office said Friday that what Lincoln County gets will depend on colder air coming in Saturday night, possibly resulting in several inches of snow.
A lot of uncertainty remained as of Friday afternoon about the timing and type of precipitation, Schwibs said. However, it was looking like Saturday would feature light rain and possibly wet snow, with little to no accumulation; then colder air Saturday night could change the precipitation to snow, ending by late Sunday afternoon with several inches possible, he said.
Wind speeds were expected to reach 15 to 30 mph on Saturday night and Sunday.
Edgecomb is prepared with more salt and sand it got in February, to make sure there would be enough for any remaining storms, Road Commissioner Scott Griffin said Friday.
