The Morris Farm will offer a series of four hands-on, interactive cooking classes this winter. This series is called “Now is the Time for Change. Become the CEO of your Body!” The classes are organized around Integrative Nutrition concepts.
The series starts Tuesday, Jan. 8 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and continues for three more weeks. Content will be useful for everyone, from omnivores to vegans. Julie Mitchell, the cook and presenter, is a certified integrative nutrition health coach and will offer a one-on-one coaching session for anyone who signs up for the class. Jan. 8: Realistic Goal Setting and Happiness will focus on setting attainable goals for one month, three months and six months. Learn how to identify real goals for happiness,not just results, and plan steps. We’ll be making foods to eat for energy, such as quinoa pilaf, hummus and coconut curried rice.
Jan. 15: Strengthen Your Immune System - Quality sleep and winter self-care will be the focus in this class. Learn how food choices can boost your immune system and promote faster healing. We’ll be enjoying veggie patties three ways: mushroom-lentil, quinoa-spinach, and rice with black beans.
Jan. 22: Creating Balance: An In-Depth Look at Primary Food - Wellness is all about balance, whether in work, relationships, physical activity, rest or play. We will explore the elements of Primary Food and you will identify areas in your life that may need more attention to create harmony. Simplify making a balanced meal with the art of creating a Buddha bowl. This will be a free-style cooking class.
Jan. 29: Food and Mood: Deconstructing Cravings - Do you have a sweet tooth or struggle with emotional eating? Learn to listen to what your body is telling you, and get to the root of the craving. Leave guilt behind and embrace the wisdom of your body. We will also discuss strategies for giving up sugar and how to deal with withdrawals. Savory breakfast foods: A hearty and savory breakfast can get the day off to a great start and snuff out cravings for the rest of the day.
