Nature journaling workshop Nov. 2 in Edgecomb
A nature journaling workshop is being offered at the Edgecomb Community Church on Sunday, Nov. 2, from 1 to 3 p.m. Kids ages 10 and older are encouraged to join with a parent or caring adult for this two-hour outdoor adventure. During this workshop you will explore nature and your power of observation, while exploring your senses, practicing awareness and understanding about how to take that information and put it into a nature journal using words and sketches.
The class will begin indoors and then outside to nature journal with prompts that will be given to you. The leader, Lindsay Strout, will be working alongside the students. As this is an outdoor event, be sure to wear appropriate warm clothing.
Workshop leader Lindsay Strout is a Maine high school science educator who is very passionate about nature journaling and the outdoors. She graduated from the University of Prince Edward Island with her bachelor's of science in biology, but teaching sparked her interests—mixing science & education is where it's at!
She's also a Maine Master Naturalist and hopes to share all that nature has to offer with others. She started nature journaling almost five years ago and has seen a huge difference in her pages, how she observes, and records those observations.
To register contact the church at edgecomb.church@gmail.com. The class is limited to 25 people so sign up soon. A donation of $10 per household is recommended. Childcare for younger children can be arranged on site, if needed.
