New Hope for Women participates in Community Read Aloud
On March 3, 2014, New Hope for Women participated in the 15th annual Community Read Aloud program organized by United Way of Mid Coast Maine as part of its “Success By Six” initiative.
The Community Read Aloud effort provides a chance for members of the community to show their dedication to promoting the health of children. Experiences of the early years, either positive or negative, greatly influence the architectural development of a young child’s brain.
For a child living with domestic violence, the most important protective factor is often a caring adult who can be depended upon to provide unconditional love and support. Story time and programs like Community Read Aloud offer a wonderful opportunity for children to build positive bonds with a caring adult while learning an enriching life skill.
New Hope for Women offers support to people in Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Knox and Waldo counties affected by domestic violence, dating violence and stalking. It also provides important educational resources to assist our communities in creating a safer and healthier future.
