Novel Jazz to bring classic Ellington and Strayhorn to Portland. The Novel Jazz Septet will be in concert at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27 at One Longfellow Square for an afternoon of classic jazz by Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn, two pillars of the jazz world.

Expect to hear well-known standards and lesser-known compositions recently transcribed from original scores at the Smithsonian.
