Ocean On Tap in August

Ocean on Tap is an informal, ocean-centric speaker series organized by researchers from Bigelow Laboratory. Our goal is to bring people of the community together over the fascinating world of the ocean. At these events, speakers will share their corner of expertise in the ocean, and attendees are encouraged to ask questions. Learn more at oceanontap.org.
On Aug. 13: Wiscasset Ocean on Tap: What's Stirring the Pot of Our Mini Oceans? Join us at Ækeir Brewing, 111 Main Street, Wiscasset at 6 p.m. Dr. Dave James of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas will be discussing the impacts of wind and temperature on the drinking water quality of local lakes.
On Aug. 27, at the Boothbay Harbor Footbridge Brewery, 25 Granary Way: "A Night with the Nearshore Program." At 6 p.m. guest speakers Katie Tilton, Ari Leach, and Jay Turnure, of the DMR Nearshore Marine Resources Program, talk about the work that goes into monitoring intertidal organisms. Come learn about their research, municipal shellfish management, and what is living in the mud!
