Paddlepalooza on Linekin Bay to support youth maritime and marine science education
The Boothbay Sea and Science Center (BSSC) is thrilled to announce its first ever Paddlepalooza! Scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 8 (rain date Aug. 9), the community event invites kayakers, canoeists, rowers, and paddleboarders of all skill levels to enjoy a day on the water in support of a fantastic cause.
The event kicks off with check-in at 8 a.m. at the Murray Hill Road Public Boat Launch in East Boothbay. Paddlers will hit the water starting at 9, choosing between two scenic routes that both start and finish at the boat launch:
-
Course A (9 a.m. start): Heads east toward Bayville, follows the coastline to the Linekin Bay Resort, and rounds the southern tip of Cabbage Island.
-
Course B (9:15 a.m.sStart): Heads south around Perch Island on the right side and return with participants staying close to the coastline. The distance is 1.71 miles.
All funds raised from Paddlepalooza will directly support the BSSC Financial Assistance Program. This crucial initiative ensures that marine science and maritime education remain affordable and accessible to everyone.
In celebration of this inaugural event, the Paddlepalooza 2026 Committee is proud to name Paul and Sue Taylor as this year’s official honorees.
