Pemaquid Folk Night
On Friday, Aug. 24, a line-up of four “home-grown” singer-songwriters will perform to benefit the conservation work of the Pemaquid Watershed Association. The public is invited to enjoy 2012 Pemaquid Folk Night: Earth as Muse at the Congregational Church of Bristol in Bristol Mills, from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
The Congregational Church of Bristol is at 1263 Bristol Rd (Route 130), six miles from Main Street in Damariscotta.
There will be a mix of original songs and cover songs that celebrate the “nature of Maine” in all its breadth, from wild to human. The sanctuary of the Congregational Church of Bristol is renowned for its excellent acoustics, providing the perfect setting for immersion in the sweet sounds of voice and acoustic guitar.
The concert will feature the talents of Jan Marie Bacon, Bruce Hardina, Solomon Temple Montrond, and James Dale. Bristol resident Jan Marie Bacon has been performing in concerts and festivals around mid-coast Maine for years. She covers folk songs from the 1960s and 70s and also has a talent for writing song parodies. Bruce Hardina is former lead singer of the eclectic band White Buffalo out of New York, and Solomon Temple Montrond started his music career with his twin sister in their group, The Eternal Fraternals, over a decade ago. James Dale spent his boyhood summers on Pemaquid Pond and now lives in Nova Scotia, returning regularly to mid-coast Maine to visit family. His debut album “Not For Entertainment” resonates with his love for the Pemaquid area.
Tickets are $12 and children under 12 may attend for free. Seating is limited and reserving tickets in advance is recommended. Call Pemaquid Watershed Association at 563-2196 to reserve yours. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door. There will be a bake sale during intermission.
The media sponsor for this event is the Coastal Journal.
Since 1966, the Pemaquid Watershed Association has been taking care of the Pemaquid peninsula by doing land and water stewardship and environmental education. For more information, go to www.pemaquidwatershed.org.
