Pirate Rendezvous seeking nonprofit to benefit
The Damariscotta River Pirate Rendezvous is seeking a local nonprofit to benefit, following the incorporation of Lincoln County Family Holiday Wishes with the respected national program, Toys for Tots.
“While we continue to support the efforts of Toys for Tots, we have traditionally partnered with a locally based nonprofit,” said Greg Latimer, event director of the Damariscotta River Pirate Rendezvous.
Lincoln County Family Holiday Wishes has been the event beneficiary since the Mystic Pirates o’ the Damariscotta had its first Twin Villages rendezvous in 2008.
“We’re looking to find a group that’s interested in forming a permanent partnership with the Pirate Rendezvous,” said Latimer. “We’re not necessarily looking for a nonprofit to provide a whole bunch of time and volunteers, just one or two individuals who can devote some time organizationally and operationally.”
According to Latimer, the Pirate Rendezvous has always produced a profit that was donated primarily to Family Holiday Wishes and included other community efforts as well.
“We feel that’s an important part of both our tradition and purpose,” Latimer said.
Representatives from any local nonprofit, large or small, are invited to contact Latimer for more details by telephone at 207-380-9912.
The Damariscotta River Pirate Rendezvous is scheduled for Saturday, June 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with pirates attacking at high noon.
