Scam protection for family and friends
As financial and digital deception continues to increase, Skidompha Library and Coastal Maine Regional Broadband are teaming up to present a free series to provide tools, resources and information to help protect you, family and friends from scams and frauds.
There are four presentations, all at 10:30 a.m. at Skidompha Library: Aug. 26, Sept. 2, Oct. 7 and Nov. 4.
Aug. 26: Red Flags of Scams, Social Media & Online Safety with Julie Casson of Coastal Maine Regional Broadband. Learn more about recognizing scams, where they originate, how social media affects scams, and tools for online safety and awareness.
Sept. 2: Banking & Scams with Erin Blomquist of First National Bank’s Fraud Team to help see how banks respond when clients are scammed, how transfers work, protecting your identity and accounts, plus other essential resources.
Oct. 7: Medicare & Other Government Scams with Medicare Insurance Expert, Maria Solorzano of Cornerstone Financial Services on how scams and Medicare collide. This session will cover how to protect yourself and what actions to take, especially as enrollment season begins October 15th. This will also highlight other government scams and how to be safe and protect yourself.
Nov. 4: Holiday Recap! Join Julie Casson of CMRB again, to learn how to be safe as we move into the winter and holiday season. This will cover holiday scams, charity scams, online shopping tips, a general recap of the series, and an open discussion on scams.
Each session will include a notice of the latest scams and updates from Local Law Enforcement.
