Sunday, Aug. 16, from 1 to 3 p.m., Set for Success (S4S) will once again throw a spirited event at Wiscasset Community Center to celebrate the community and its upcoming school year. All Wiscasset’s students and their families are invited to pick up their teacher-recommended school supplies, as well as a red and black backpack to put them in if one chooses. 

Wiscasset parent-accompanied students, grades Pre-K to grade 12, are invited to take advantage of the opportunity to ready themselves for school year 2026/27. Homeschooled students who would go to Wiscasset schools are also welcome to join in the event.

After claiming their school supplies, people can check out many community support groups’ displays, get a haircut, have lunch thanks to Healthy Lincoln County, and check out the touch-a-truck area. A school bus will be on site for students to explore and practice bus riding skills. Stop by the Help Yourself Shelf table at the event to claim a $10 gift certificate to be used in the Bargain Basement at St. Philip’s to shop for clothing when it’s convenient. Once again, Darling’s Ice Cream for a Cause truck will be available for a sweet treat to round out the experience.

There’s still time to sponsor the cost of a child’s school supplies, or otherwise donate so that Feed Our Scholars/Set for Success may purchase supply items. Send a check for whatever you feel comfortable with to St. Philip’s Church, 12 Hodge St., Wiscasset, ME 04578. Please write Set For Success in the memo line.
