Skidompha Book Shop now has its own website
The website of Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop in Damariscotta went online a couple of weeks ago, and is already eliciting comments such as “pretty darn hip for a secondhand book store.”
Visitors to the site may reach it at skidomphabookshop.org, or through a link at the website of Skidompha Public Library, skidompha.org.
The site includes general information about the shop, photos, and a “What’s New” section where the shop will announce special events and sales.
Rosie Bensen, co-manager of the shop, points out that “in the winter, an important function of the site is to inform customers on the rare occasion when we have to close the shop. The library closes when schools close, but that’s not always the case with the shop. We have some dedicated volunteers who live close to downtown and are committed to keep the shop open if they can get there.”
The shop now also has a presence on Facebook and Instagram, and Bensen encourages friends of the shop to “like” the shop on those sites.
The book shop, located on Backstreet Landing in downtown Damariscotta, offers about 23,000 books in dozens of categories, as well as puzzles, music CDs, audio books, and movies on VCR and DVD. All items are donated, all staff members are volunteers, and all proceeds support the collection and the programs of Skidompha Public Library. Donations may be left at the shop or the library whenever they are open.
