Skidompha Strummers uke ensemble
Saturday, Aug. 29, is worldwide Play Music on the Porch Day. The Skidompha Strummers, the ukulele ensemble of Skidompha Public Library, will celebrate the day by playing and singing popular songs at the library’s front entrance, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
The concert is free. All are welcome to attend and invited to sing along. In case of rain, the assembly will move inside the library.
This is the Strummers’ seventh year joining instrumentalists and singers all over the world who step outside on the last Saturday in August to share their music with friends and neighbors.
The Strummers practice at 3:30 every Thursday afternoon at the Library, and their sessions are open to the public. Anyone who knows a few basic ukulele chords and strumming patterns is invited to consider joining the group. The library has ukuleles that patrons with a Skidompha library card may borrow.
The Skidompha Public Library is located at 184 Main St. in downtown Damariscotta. For more information about the library or the Skidompha Strummers, phone the library at 207-887-0919, or visit its website, Skidompha.org.
