Harbor Theater is excited to introduce "Something to Chew On," a new monthly documentary and dinner series combining thought-provoking films, good food, and opportunities to experience something new together.

Held on the first Sunday of each month at 6 p.m., the series will explore a wide variety of subjects—from nature and adventure to history, culture, science, and more. Each film will be accompanied by an optional light dinner inspired by the evening’s documentary.

On Oct. 4 the first film in the new series, "Winged Migration," - (G; 1 hour, 31 minutes) -  follows various migratory bird species on their long journeys from their summer homes to the equator and back, covering thousands of miles and navigating by the stars. These arduous treks are crucial for survival, seeking hospitable climates and food sources. Birds face numerous challenges, including crossing oceans and evading predators, illness, and injury. Although migrations are undertaken as a community, birds disperse into family units once they reach their destinations, and every continent is affected by these migrations, hosting migratory bird species at least part of the year.

To complement the film, we’ll offer an optional $10 light wine and dinner buffet inspired by foods migrating birds enjoy along their journeys, including seafood, seeds, nuts, and fruits, i.e. seafood chowder, wild rice pilaf, and applesauce cake with raisins and walnuts. The buffet opens at 6 p.m. The movie begins at 6:30 p.m. Film only tickets are available at the regular prices: Members/$8, under 18/$6; Non-members: Adults/$12, under 18/$8. No advance tickets or reservations required.
