Wiscasset Middle High School's school nurse, Sommer Maybee, was placed on paid administrative leave Sept. 22 and an internal investigation has begun, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kim Andersson confirmed to Wiscasset Newspaper Sept. 23.

Responding to several email questions, Andersson said Maybee was placed on paid administrative leave at 7:45 p.m. Sept. 22.

Also responding to email questions, Wiscasset Police Chief Lawrence Hesseltine confirmed he arrested Sommer Harding, 44, of Bath on Sept. 22 at 3:10 p.m. in the parking lot of Market Place Plaza, which is across from Shaw's on Route One, and charged her with OUl, Class D. Hesseltine said Harding's arraignment is scheduled for Nov. 12 in Wiscasset Unified Court. "And yes, she is employed as the school nurse for WMHS," Hesseltine answered.

According to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset, Harding was released on $300 cash bail shortly before 7 p.m. Sept. 22.

Said Andersson in her responses, "We do not have a specific policy about staff arrests. Sommer is currently out on paid administrative leave and we're doing an internal investigation that I can't comment on at this time ..."

Wiscasset Newspaper has also sought comment from Maybee.
