Staff promotions, continued commitment to community health
Healthy Lincoln County (HLC) is proud to announce the promotions of Katie MacDonald to director and Will Matteson to associate program manager, effective June 1, 2025. These promotions recognize the leadership, dedication, and care both individuals bring to their work every day. As the organization continues to provide vital public health services across Lincoln County, these changes reflect a deep commitment to its mission: supporting health, equity, and connection through education, prevention, and strong community partnerships.
Previously, MacDonald served as the operations manager for the past eight months. During that time, she led the organization with care and clarity, overseeing both internal operations and community outreach. MacDonald has played a key role in securing grant funding, onboarding new team members, including an AmeriCorps VISTA and a summer meals contractor, and implementing systems that have improved financial transparency and empowered staff. Her leadership reflects a deep commitment to HLC’s mission and values.
“I feel really lucky to be stepping into this role with such a strong, passionate team around me,” said MacDonald. “HLC is doing important work, connecting people with resources, supporting public health, and building community, and I’m excited to keep that momentum going. I’ve got a lot to learn, but I’m here to listen, collaborate, and do my part to help our county thrive.”
Previously, Will Matteson served as a senior program associate. He has been with HLC for several years and is respected for his work in substance use prevention and harm reduction. He has built strong relationships across the county, particularly in local schools, where he is known for his approachable style and deep knowledge. Matteson has been serving in a leadership capacity, and this promotion formally recognizes the vital role he plays in the organization’s work.
“I’m excited to continue growing our harm reduction work and to keep showing how community-level action can make a real difference,” said Matteson. “One of the best parts of working at HLC is being part of a small but mighty team that truly cares. I feel lucky to work in such a vibrant, beautiful community and to be part of something that’s helping people every day.”
