A section of River Road in Edgecomb is closed for construction beginning Oct. 1 for a culvert replacement project.  

River Road will be closed one mile north of the intersection at McKay Road, with marked detours. Project contractor Hagar Enterprises said the northbound detour will guide traffic through McKay Road. The firm advised southbound travelers to avoid River Road and take Route 27 instead.   

According to the town, closure will last at least two weeks because the culvert pipe must be assembled on site and placed as one piece.
