It has been a strenuous month at 234 River Road. Way back in December 2013, a friend to whom I'd loaned my car had an accident while driving it. Not serious, but on top of all the other damage which had accrued over 5-plus years, it was deemed advisable to take it to the shop.
Snow storms and miscommunications between shop, insurance company and moi stalled the work through January. Finally the pictures were taken, the claim approved, and we drove it to the shop, where an agent from a car rental firm met us. When we were at his office, I discovered that my driver's license was, how shall I say, in serious need of renewing. So he drove us home.
The next couple of days were uneventful, but a good friend took me to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles office in Topsham Mall, where the acquisition of a temporary license was nowhere near so painful as I had been imagining. The shop had been cautious about when the work would be done, and we foresaw an isolated weekend, but today they called, the work was done! So another good friend took us back there to pick up the car, which we hardly recognized, it looked so spiffy! Thanks, absolutely everyone, you know who you are!
