Concert to benefit Community Resource Council
Fri, 09/15/2023 - 8:45am
Sunday, Sept. 24 at 4 p.m. at the Boothbay Harbor Congregational Church will see the return of “The Sunday Summer Songbook.” A program filled with song and laughter and maybe the occasional tear is promised by Betsey deGroff, producer and director of the show.
“We are privileged in this area to have an abundance of musical talent,’ said Ms. deGroff, a well-known voice teacher and choral director. “We’ve put together a potpourri of music that will delight the audience. We’ve got show tunes, art songs, an aria or two, several duets, even two mother/daughter numbers, and an operatic trio. There is literally something for everyone.”
Selections include duets from “Monsters, Inc.” and “Into the Woods,” songs from the musicals “Parade,” “Good Bye Girl,” “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Nine,” “The Sound of Music,” “The Wizard of Oz,”“West Side Story,” “A Little Night Music,” arias from Puccini and Mozart, as well as “The Cat Duet” by Rossini, and much, much more.
Sean Fleming, one of Maine’s most sought after keyboardists, and Doug Kennedy, an outstanding percussionist and instrumentalist will provide accompaniment for a cast of 10 talented vocalists from age 10 to, well, a lot older than 10.
Admission is by donation with all proceeds going to the Community Resource Council.
