On Saturday, July 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Wiscasset Common will come alive with the activities of Summerfest. Music by a ragtime band and the Clarinotes will fill the air. Crafts made by the Organ Society ladies are for sale as well as yard sale items, treasures, plants, baked goods, books and toys. The Uncommon Café will serve hamburgers, hot dogs and sandwiches. Silent auction items include a new LL Bean kayak, and a specialized brand adult 10-speed bicycle valued at over $500. Children’s events and the annual dog show and parade round out the day’s activities.

The First Congregational Church’s Summerfest began as an all-church affair in 1983, following many years as an annual summer fair held by the Ladies’ Organ Society. Proceeds of the fair are donated to local outreach organizations at a special Sunday in October set aside for the presentations.
