The Central Lincoln County YMCA Teen Leaders’ Club raised money at a car wash Sunday for students to attend a Nov. 1-3 regional rally at the YMCA camp at Greenkill, New York. The rally includes large and small group activities, a jam and a dance.

The students, who serve on local nonprofit boards including PumpkinFest, the YMCA, Substance Use Prevention Partnership and others, and are student leaders in their schools, held the car wash at Sullivan Tire on Main Street in Damariscotta.

Karen Ann Hagar, who directs the club at CLC YMCA,  said the students are “top heavy” on service. “Other Leaders’ Clubs do more of the fun stuff, socializing with one another and other groups. This event is to give them the chance to do some of those things.”

Among the students who took part were Riley Stevenson, Camden Labelle, Audrey Purse, Adam Siriois, Grace Brodeur, Nula Glendenning and Maya Crowdrick. Hagar said the car wash started off slowly, but as the morning wore on, there were cars waiting in line. “I think most of our customers want to come out and support our kids,” she said.
