LINCOLN THEATER

2 Theater St., Damariscotta ~ 563-3424 ~ www.lcct.org

It’s that time of year when we close for a bit, through Thursday, April 11, so we can finish building the set, hang the lights, rehearse the company, tune-up the orchestra, and perform a big ol’ musical.  This year, “Sister Act” takes the stage, opening Friday April 12.  As the winter show often sells out early ticket purchases are encouraged. And while you’re at it, sign up for the Classic Film Club, and/or become a theater member.  Now is a great time to do all three.

“Sister Act” - LCCT production - Under the baton of Maestro John Mulcahy, the Lincoln County Community Theater (LCCT) brings you Sister Act, the divine feel-good musical comedy based on the 1992 hit film. When disco diva wanna-be, Deloris Van Cartier, witnesses a murder, she is put in protective custody in the one place the cops are sure she won't be found: a convent! Disguised as a nun, she finds herself at odds with both the rigid lifestyle and uptight Mother Superior. Using her singing talent to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community, discovering the power of sisterhood in the process. With the music of Tony and eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken (Newsies, Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors), this uplifting musical was nominated for five Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

Showtimes and dates: 7:30 p.m. on  Friday, April 12; two shows on Saturday, April 13 at 2 and 7:30 p.m., and a matinee on Sunday, April 14 at 2. Tickets: $20/adult, $18/theater members, $5/youth 18 and under, are available through the Lincoln Theater box office at 563-3424 and are also available at the door beginning one hour before showtime.
